Secondary progressions are one of the main tools of predictive astrology, along with transits. This method of "advancing" the natal chart forward in time, with each day after birth symbolically corresponding to one year of life.

Simply put, planetary positions N days after birth reflect trends in the Nth year of a person's life. For example, if a person is 25 years old, their progressions are calculated based on planetary positions on the 25th day after birth.

Astrologers view this "progression chart" as a "behind-the-scenes" version of the natal chart, showing the inner development of the personality over time.
